The one thing bands always tell you about life on the road is that it gets old fast. Getting through the first month is usually a breeze, but it doesn't take long for the luster to wear off. And when it comes to combating the inevitable boredom that comes with life on the road, the dudes in 36 Crazyfists have tried just about everything. After all, when the majority of your life has been spent in the frozen abyss that is Alaska, boredom tends to be a constant foe. Of course, there's always drinking — with the rest of your band, the other acts on the bill — or hanging with groupies, who're more than willing to help kill the time. But a few years back, while on tour in Europe with Bullet for My Valentine, 36 Crazyfists were fresh out of ideas — so they drank.

Breaking the ice with 36 Crazyfists By Dave Schwartz. I guess the House of Blues in Hollywood is like most clubs. During the afternoon with no bodies to fill all the nooks and crannies, it seems cavernous. There is always someone tinkering with the sound or lighting and that it would be the best place to find the band 36 Crazyfists. I find the soundman at the stage helping to set up another band on the bill that night, God Forbid. Too busy to be concerned with my needs, he simply motions toward the bar upstairs and turns back to his work.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Brock Lindow, lead singer of the Alaskan metal band 36 Crazyfists. Brock is a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan and since I was born and raised in Philadelphia, it made me enjoy having that little bit of a connection with a band from the other side of the continent. We touch on everything from the tragedy in Las Vegas, Brock's passion for tacos and Thai food and even getting drunk with a Broad Street Bully. Take a peek at the interview below.
