Hyphenated domains – the latest!

Good news.  It seems as if hyphenated domains may not be penalised by Google after all. 

Matt Cutts blog has categorically stated that websites are not banned or penalised for a hyphenated domain – and these domains are not counted as spam.  Phew.  We can all breathe again … but doesn’t it seem scary, the power that these big companies have!?

Writing for article submission sites

It’s official! 

Article submission is an excellent way to achieve a high search engine ranking. 

Writing articles and submitting them to an article submission site is a great way for you to get links for you site.

Each article that you write has a link back to your site in the author biography, when a webmaster adds your free article to your site, you automatically get another on way link to your site and improve your ranking with the search engines.

It really is that easy.  Most articles only need to be about 250 words long.  Most people could write something that long – most of your webpages have probably got content that you could turn into articles.

If you’re starting a web based business, writing articles also gives you credibility with your customers and develops trust – putting you ahead the competition!

Get your Blog seen – just ping!

Are you confused by all this blogging and pinging?  Well, I was until recently when I came across a great resource which gave me a helping hand. 

As you can see, I use a Wordpress blog and it’s really easy to add a “ping” to get new content visited by the search engines.  Just click Options, and select the Writing tab.  Add your “ping” to the “Update Services” box at the bottom of the page.  For some useful free ping addresses, visit here.
