How Brandon Dupsky became an eBay Internet Millionaire by selling junk from his basement

The way Brandon Dupsky tells it, he was just an ordinary small town boy growing up in Nebraska where it was all cornfields and cattle.

In 1998 he started selling a few items from his basement – primarily his old record collection and was surprised at how much money he could make from items that were worth so little elsewhere.

Soon, Brandon was buying cheap stuff from garage sales, auctions – stuff that other people considered as junk – and selling it at a profit on eBay. As he really did live in a small town, pretty soon he had exhausted his local sources and needed to find other sources of products to sell online.

His initial approach to the local business community bombed – no-one at his local Chamber of Commerce was interested in selling off their excess stock. However, he got his first opportunity to sell online came from a local businessman who had heard his presentation and hoped to use Brandon to sell an unwanted order of spy equipment. This was his first offer and Brandon wasn’t going to turn it down!

He duly photographed the equipment which was about the size of the truck and put it up on eBay. However, he has also asked this businessman if he had any other stock that was surplus to his requirements and it just so happened that this guy had a few pieces of electronic equipment for sale.

Using his eBay selling techniques, Brandon managed to sell all of these and the rest, as they say, is history!

It is a well-document piece of information that Brandon Dupsky, the boy from Nebraska, made over $8 million last year alone, that’s over $20,000 dollars every day.

With $86 million in worldwide sales every day on eBay, and sales increasing at over 60% per year, no-one can afford to ignore this fast-growing internet market!. Not only that, but eBay is not the single largest marketplace online.

Well, the Internet Millionaire’s Bootcamp to be more exact.  I’ve just been reading through all the information that Derek Gehl has sent out in advance of our weekend together and can’t believe that we’ll be covering so MUCH ground in just one weekend. 

It’ll be really interesting to meet other people who are interesting in achieving their own financial freedom by working for themselves too – the stories from previous events certainly look interesting and I know that I’ll be coming back with plenty of ideas and actions that I can take to boost my sales & traffic.  Just one guy talked about doubling his opt-in subscriber list uptake within days – now that’s gotta be worth money in the bank to him.

How much can I earn with Google Adsense?

How much can I earn with Google Adsense?
It’s a question that everyone asks soon after they sign up for Google Adsense.  So often people are disappointed that they are only making around $1/day.Basically, if you’re not hitting at least $1/day after six months, you need to take some advice about getting traffic to your site and your use and placement of your Google Ads. 

I think that it’s important to remember that it takes time to build up your income, but that it does gradually build as the search engines find your site, as you build more pages and as you build more links to your site.

The key to Adsense is to create content – you can do this by creating more pages or by creating more sites.  For example, if you have one site that is earning just $1/day, that’s $30/month.  Ten sites like that will give you an income of $300/month, fifty sites will give you an income of $1500/month and so on.  You get the idea!  

However, do avoid the temptation to buy an “Adsense Ready” website – some of these contain duplicate content which the search engines can spot a mile away.  You’ll have plenty of content that you’ve paid good money for, but few visitors.  Creating your own content is the key – either by writing yourself or by using free articles from Article Directories such as Ezine Articles and then adding your own introduction to make them unique.  You can also make use of RSS to create fresh content on your site.

There are plenty of people who earn good money from Adsense, John Reese earned over £500,000 in just one year and Michael Cheney makes over $19000 per month.  You may not wish to be in that kind of league, but it certainly gives you the idea that there’s big money to be made if you just know what to do.  Obviously you’ll want to set up and build up one site to start off with, then add the others later on.

Once you’ve started to build up an income, then you can start to experiment with placing and colour of your ads.  If you can improve your click through rate (CTR) on your ads, then you can make more money from the same level of traffic.  This is somewhere it can really pay to listen to the experts, just one eBook that I downloaded more than tripled the income from my own sites.  Also, read up as much free information as you can, sign up for courses from the experts and try out new ideas.  If you can get your CTR into double figures you’ll be doing OK, although rumour has it that some of the experts have really high click through’s.  As it’s against Googles terms and conditions to share this information, these kind of figures are not readily available, however, by testing out ideas on your own site you’ll be able to find out what works for you.

The forgotten tool … SEO Elite

Isn’t it funny how the memory seems to go as you get older?

I’ve been so busy using all these cool new tools, like Article Submitter (such fun! – the novelty still hasn’t worn off after 20+ articles), that I’d almost forgotten one of my favourite SEO tools, SEO Elite. 

After all Michael Cheney’s success, I thought I’d try and find out how he’d optimized his sites for the search engines.  Using SEO Elite I was able to look at all the links to his site and analyze his keywords and the PR of the links.  Woah, was that interesting!  Over eighty percent of his links had a PR of 3 or more, and more than 80 backlinks in Google alone! 

Well, that’s interesting information – but as I now know all of the sites linking to his website, I’m now in a position to contact their webmasters to offer a link exchange on one of my related sites.  Given that this is just ONE of the ten sites that Michael is using to make over $19,000 per month with – using these simple SEO techniques I should be able to improve my search engine ranking for my keywords. 

Thanks for the inspiration Michael – I think I’ll tie a knot in my hanky to remind me use SEO Elite some more!
